Toenail Fungus

At To Healthy Feet Podiatry, we use state of the art equipment and technology to quickly and accurately asses, diagnose, and treat toenail fungus. We offer a range of customized treatments, including oral/topical medications, microwave Immunotherapy, laser therapy, or complete removal of the affected nail, depending on the severity of your case, restoring the aesthetics and health to your toenail and feet.

Description

When tiny organisms known as fungi invade your toenails, they become infected and are known as fungal toenails. A fungal nail infection can make the nail look funky and yellow/greenish.

Symptoms

Toenails can appear darkened, brittle, and thickened. There can also be some debris underneath the nail. Foul odor may be present.

Treatment Options

Topical or oral anti-fungal medication, proper foot hygiene, microwave Immunotherapy, laser therapy, or complete removal of the affected nail.

Treatment Option Description (with Duration)

When you first start noticing color or texture changes to the toenail, it is important to seek treatment promptly in order to prevent the toenail becoming worse in appearance. Depending on the severity of the condition, a lab test may be ordered to confirm the presence of fungus. Based on the lab results and how bad your toenail looks, you may be prescribed an oral medication for three months or a topical medication for longer. If the toenail is completely damaged or deformed, your podiarist may remove the entire toenail to allow for a new nail to grow.

Expected Outcome

The goal of treatment is to restore toenail health and make them look normal again!
