Farah Alani attended the University of Western Ontario, where she changed her mind to do medicine instead of business, and graduated in 2005. She went to school in Chicago (Rosalind Franklin Med School) and did her residency in Orange County in California, and part of her residency in Brooklyn, New York. She completed her Fellowship in Dermatology and Pathology. Recently (2019) Dr. Alani received a Beacon Award from Dr. Oz, and a 'Community and Service Award' from the State of New York.
Dr. Farah Alani is a New York City foot and ankle surgeon at To Healthy Feet Podiatry, a boutique podiatry practice. Located in the heart of Manhattan, her patient base includes senior diplomats, Broadway stars, professional athletes, as well as young professionals and anyone in need of help from injuries or pain. Her practice focuses on non-invasive surgery, regenerative medicine, and innovative techniques in general podiatry.
Dr. Alani is currently in her fourth term as the Chairman of the Northeast Aga Khan Health Board where she manages over 350 volunteer health care professionals. In this role, she has done significant work with the underprivileged across the northeastern United States, providing much needed health care, healthy living, and health education programming. Additionally, she serves as a mentor to many young medical professionals in the United States. This year, Dr. Alani was recognized for Outstanding Community Service by the State of New York and she recently spoke at the United Nations Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.
Dr. Alani volunteered abroad in Uganda, where she was inspired to become a foot surgeon. She studied in Chicago, and has served in multiple medical missions to remote parts of Mexico with LIGA-Flying Doctor of Mercy. Being a language enthusiast, she taught English in China and developed an oral English language curriculum for a middle school in Changsha. She is fluent in English, French, and Kutchi and is learning Spanish. Dr. Alani is a local arts scene supporter and loves to travel.
Dr. Farah Alani received her degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois in 2011 where she was awarded a Health Service Award for her professional contributions to rural clinics in Mexico. Dr. Alani completed her residency training here in New York City and in Newport Beach, California. She also completed a fellowship in dermato-pathology in Atlanta, Georgia. Her diverse training allows her to provide evidence-based cutting-edge care of the foot and ankle. Dr. Alani takes pride in ensuring that her patients understand their conditions and the various treatment options (including conservative and non-conservative treatment options), while supporting them through the treatment and recovery. She specializes in reconstructive surgeries of the foot, such as bunion and hammertoe corrections, ligament reconstruction, and arthritic and sports-related injuries.
Dr. Alani has a particular passion for diagnosing and treating sports injuries, such as those commonly experienced by runners, skiers, and dancers. Dr. Alani is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and she is a member of the New York State Podiatric Medical Association and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.
