Dr. Aakruti Bhalja is a board-certified podiatrist and foot and ankle surgeon with more than a decade of experience. She grew up in New Jersey and went to Rutgers University, where she studied biological sciences, nutrition, and psychology, then earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
She completed her residency in podiatric medicine and surgery at the Department of Veterans Affairs in East Orange, New Jersey, and finished as Chief Resident. Her residency training centered on reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Bhalja is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Her surgical training includes internal fixation, foot and ankle arthroscopy, and three-dimensional bunion correction. She offers minimally invasive options for bunions, hammertoes, flat feet, and foot and ankle injuries.
Teaching is a big part of her work. She trains podiatric residents in surgical technique and speaks to physicians, physical therapists, and chiropractors about conservative and surgical care of the foot and ankle.
Her goal with every patient is the same: find the treatment plan that gets you moving comfortably again and improves your day-to-day life. She is easy to talk to, quick to smile, and generous with plain-language explanations of what is going on and what your options are.
Outside the office, Dr. Bhalja enjoys hiking, yoga, and time with her husband and daughter.
