Nearly all toddlers look flat-footed, and for most children the arch develops naturally over time. Sometimes, though, flat feet deserve a closer look.
When to have it checked
- Foot, leg, or heel pain
- Trouble keeping up, tiring quickly, or frequent tripping
- Flat feet that seem stiff rather than flexible
- One foot noticeably different from the other
How we help
When treatment is needed, supportive footwear, custom orthotics, and stretching usually do the job, because young feet respond so well.
