A plantar fibroma is a firm nodule that forms in the arch of the foot, within the plantar fascia. It can be uncomfortable, especially with pressure from standing or walking.
Treatment options
Conservative care includes orthotics and padding to offload the area and anti-inflammatory measures. When a fibroma is painful or growing, minimally invasive surgery can remove it with less downtime than traditional surgery.
When to get it checked
Any firm or growing lump in the foot should be evaluated to confirm the diagnosis.
