Injections and anti-inflammatories are aimed at reducing the swelling of the nerve tissue and therefore reducing the pain or discomfort associated with the neuroma. If the pain does not subside, surgical excision of the diseased nerve can be performed.  More recently, there’s a minimally invasive office procedure that we perform using cryotherapy that causes the nerve to die. The neuroma is permanently destroyed with almost no recovery time

Answer: No, a neuroma is sometimes found on an MRI when you have a separate issue entirely. If it is not bothering you, treatment is not necessary. If it becomes painful at a later date you will know that you have it and can discuss the treatment plan with your doctor at that time.
