If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, minimally invasive microsurgery may be the right solution for you. Our podiatrists will evaluate your condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment during your consultation.
Chronic or acute pain in the foot, ankle, or heel that limits your daily activity or quality of life.
Structural conditions like bunions that make it painful or impossible to wear standard footwear comfortably.
Discomfort or pain that occurs specifically when walking or standing while wearing shoes for any length of time.
Minimally invasive surgery, also known as microsurgery, is a procedure completed right in-office. A small incision is made to the to access the area requiring treatment and thin precise instruments are used to shave, remove, or reposition bone or tissue.
These very small incisions are all that is necessary as the microsurgical instruments are guided with ultrasound and radiography technologies minimizing damage to the surrounding tissues and scarring.
Recovery time is much shorter than more traditional surgical interventions and will range from one to several weeks, but patients are often able to bear weight immediately and may be able to walk out after the procedure is completed.
Compared to traditional open surgery, minimally invasive microsurgery offers patients a significantly better experience — from the procedure itself through to full recovery.
Recovery ranges from one to several weeks — dramatically less than traditional open surgery which may require months of healing.
Many patients can bear weight and walk out of the office the same day the procedure is completed, with minimal assistance needed.
Tiny incisions guided by ultrasound technology leave virtually no visible scarring compared to traditional open surgical approaches.
Because the procedure uses smaller incisions and causes less trauma to surrounding tissues, patients often experience reduced swelling, lower infection risk, and less post-operative discomfort compared to traditional surgery.
If you’re suffering from ankle/heel pain due to Achilles Tendonitis, or any other foot/ankle condition, our New York foot doctors can help!
Serving the Downtown and Midtown Manhattan areas of NYC, we help you get back to healthy and happy living.

Sometimes scar tissue builds up in a tendon and causes the tendon to lose its elasticity. At that point, chronic Achilles tendinitis can be treated by removing the scar tissue using a minimally invasive procedure like Tenex. This uses a wand that transmits ultrasonic energy to break through the scar tissue leaving healthy tissue behind. Downtime is minimal and return to normal activity is about a week.
Grab a resistance band (or even a stretchy t-shirt)! Place the band or shirt around the ball of your foot. Pull the two ends of the band or shirt towards you until you feel a nice stretch in the back of your leg. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds, and relax for 10 seconds. Repeat this 5-10 times for both legs!
Achilles tendonitis rarely requires surgery. However, if treatment is delayed or neglected, there could be further damage such as a tendon tear. This would require surgical repair, and although we can do this with minimally invasive techniques, it is better to prevent damage when possible. Don’t ignore your pain. See your podiatrist as soon as possible.
